The next step

Let's go a bit further!

Just finished a sailing course and you want to feel more confident? It’s been a while since you sailed last time and you want to brush-up a bit? We have something for you!

Development Trips

It is the most common question that we get at the end of a course: “What to do next?” And the most common answer we, as instructors, get at the end of the course to our question “Do you feel confident enough to sail on your own with friends or would you take your family out for a day or a week?”, is no. And this is perfectly normal! While during the week of the course you practice a lot and learn even more with the saefty of an experienced instructor next to you, when you are left alone suddenly you might feel that everything is very complicated, unsafe or uncomfortable. You will have to direct fairly unexperienced crew as well and that adds a bit more stress when it comes to manuevering in the harbour or taking a reef when the breeze kicks in while on passage. We understand all that. We have faced it ourselves, no one was born an expert. It’s practice that makes perfect. And this is what these trips are about. Practice! Onboard our Bavaria 40 training yacht or a yacht of your choice, even your own yacht, with an experience instructor by your side. And while not an official course you will benefit from one-to-one tuition. You will practice in the element that you need more. You will get to know your boat!

We can provide various options, contact us to discuss, and Let’s Go Sailing!

Catamaran Training

Catamarans are a popular option as they provide stability when sailing or anchored and ample of space to chill-out when at anchor or in a harbour. They can carry more equipment that a monohull as well, so it is not uncommon to find catamarans with genererator and watermaker along with airconditioning and even dishwashers! Catamarans are ideal if you want to spend nights at anchor in comfort. Why let that dream escape you?

That extra volume, though, along with the shallow draft, as well as the twin engine configuration make them a bit different in manuevering. Not necessarily harder if you know the tricks. Sailing is different also. Big, fully battened mainsails and a jib is the norm in the charter catamarans. But with that extra long main traveler track, the absence of a backstay and the smaller headsail, sail triming has it’s differences from a monohull as well. Let alone the absence of healing!

Catamaran sailing is a whole new world to discover. Train from the experts and you will enjoy the maximum of the comfort these vessels can offer!
